SYPNOSIS

We are in an era of unprecedented disruption where traditional business models are faced with impending obsolescence.

eCommerce in particular, is revolutionising the way people shop on a global scale. In Southeast Asia, eCommerce is expected to exceed US$88 billion by 2025. While the conventional brick-and-mortar methods are being challenged, cross-border opportunities are also presenting themselves to businesses and consumers.

What implications do these changes have on commerce and international trade? What are some of the complexities, challenges and opportunities that businesses will face in Southeast Asia when dealing with eCommerce with regards to laws, policies, payments, logistics and mobile penetration?

An accomplished Intellectual Property & Technology lawyer, Gilbert has represented some of the largest users of technology in Singapore in their procurement of IT systems. He has extensive experience in preparing agreements relating to software development; acquisition; information technology turnkey projects; technology consultancy services and e-commerce issues and advising on data protection matters. In addition to his legal qualifications, Gilbert also holds a Certificate in Computer Programming and Information Processing from the City & Guilds of London Institute.
