2020 ANZ Economic Outlook

New Decade, New Challenges in the New Global Order.

2020 has started off on a mixed footing. The US-China Phase One Deal has de-escalated trade tensions, removing a key risk to the region’s growth outlook. But renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, if prolonged, introduces a new potential headwind. The US presidential election is also another source of possible uncertainty over the second half of the year. Singapore managed to avoid a technical recession in 2019, and look set for a modest recovery this year.

Interviewed by Bloomberg’s Southeast Asia Economic Reporter Michelle Jamrisko, Khoon Goh, Head of Asia Research at ANZ, will present his outlook for how the Singapore and regional economy will navigate through 2020..

Michelle Jamrisko, Asia Economics Correspondent, Bloomberg Asia

Michelle Jamrisko is Bloomberg's Asia Economics Correspondent, based in Singapore since 2017 and primarily responsible for Southeast Asia. Michelle previously spent seven years in the Washington, D.C. bureau, covering the U.S. economy, Congress, and government procurement. Prior to Bloomberg, she was a White House correspondent for Kyodo News. Michelle holds an MA in Global Policy from Johns Hopkins University and a BA in Government and English from the University of Virginia.
