The annual Australian Chamber of Commerce Singapore (AustCham) business awards for 2020 were presented at a virtual ceremony today.

Chris Coburn, AustCham President, said the awards celebrate the achievements of businesses and individuals who are leaders in their field.

“This year has been full of challenges, with our way of life being completely disrupted by COVID-19 and many businesses needing to adapt and show resilience under pressure,” he said.

“It is important for us to recognise the success stories and highlight areas where Australian business is continuing to push the boundaries and show exemplary leadership and innovation.”

The Australian High Commission Sustainability Award was presented by Bruce Gosper Australian High Commissioner to Singapore. This is awarded to the company whose business operations or solutions have demonstrated excellence in embodying sustainability as an integral part of its business practice.

“It’s my great pleasure to present the 2020 Australian High Commission Sustainability Award to Lendlease,” he said.

“This is a new category to the AustCham business awards this year and has been an important focus for government and business alike and this is reflected in the work we have done here with Singapore on an agreement for cooperation on climate technology” he said.

“I am very pleased to present this Award to Lendlease, who have been a market leader in sustainability in development and design here in Singapore and the region.”

Receiving the award on behalf Lendlease, Ms Ng Hsueh Ling, Managing Director Singapore and Chief Investment Officer, Asia thanked the Australian High Commission for the award.

“At Lendlease, we are committed to being a leader in sustainability, on the environmental, social and economic fronts. We make a conscious effort to drive industry transformation through bold targets which set new global benchmarks for the industry, and recently committed to limit global warming to less than 1.5 degrees and to create lasting social value.

“We are honoured to be recognised by Austcham and look forward to playing a central role in the continued transformation of our industry, creating value where communities thrive for our people today and in generations to come.”
