Select Investors Australia is an Australian Tax Practice specialising in Australian Expatriates, Foreign Investors and intended migrants to Australia.
What’s your role all about?
I am an Australian Licenced and Registered Tax Agent. I spend most of my time working closely with the team at Select Investors to discuss, prepare, review and execute strategic tax and financial repatriation and retirement plans for our clients. This is in addition to the usual bread and butter activities of an Australian tax practice which includes preparing Australian tax returns, liaising with the ATO, and assisting clients with property transactions and alike. In my spare time, I enjoy getting involved with AustCham and ANZA.
What’s the hot topic in your sector right now?
Repatriation and expatriation planning closely followed by potential property purchase tax planning. As we have a fair amount of movement of expats coming and going, there are plenty of clients looking for any tax efficiencies when re-entering Australia, together with those who want to enter the property market or acquire a second or third investment property.
Why are you a member of AustCham in Singapore?
I love AustCham! I first joined many years ago to take advantage of the great networking events however recently I have been lucky enough to join the board and get involved with the inner workings of the Chamber. AustCham does a wonderful job of uniting the Australian business community and connecting it into the Singapore (and Asian) business community.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now where would you go?
Luang Prabang, Laos with my family. We first went on a holiday there a couple of years ago and fell in love with it. The old world sentiment together with the amazing food, culture and unusual mix of Asian and European culture is lovely to be a part of.
What are you most looking forward to for 2021?
Travel – hopefully! I really love Singapore and I am hoping to make it our family’s home for many years to come, however we all miss our greater family in Australia and also the great feeling of coming back home to Singapore once you have been out of the country for a trip. This helps you appreciate this great country which we are all lucky visitors to and refresh your thoughts and ideas for the road ahead.
