The annual Australian Chamber of Commerce Singapore (AustCham) business awards for 2020 were presented at a virtual ceremony today.
Chris Coburn, AustCham President, said the awards celebrate the achievements of businesses and individuals who are leaders in their field.
“This year has been full of challenges, with our way of life being completely disrupted by COVID-19 and many businesses needing to adapt and show resilience under pressure,” he said.
“It is important for us to recognise the success stories and highlight areas where Australian business is continuing to push the boundaries and show exemplary leadership and innovation.
“This year we introduced a new award category, recognising excellence in digital capability. This award is sponsored by the Australian High Commission to Singapore.”
Bruce Gosper, Australia’s High Commissioner to Singapore presented the inaugural Digital Capability award, recognising an organisation at the forefront of its field that has made outstanding contributions to its industry and is positioned to make a significant impact in the future.
“A focus on digital innovation and capability is guiding public policy development and business enterprise alike, and here at the Australian High Commission we have done a lot of work in this area including most recently on the Australia Singapore Digital Economy Agreement,” he said.
“This year I am pleased to present the first ever Digital Capability award to QBE. QBE has made some significant efforts to achieve better integration through common digital standards of business practices across various business functions. Congratulations on winning the award.”
Receiving the award on behalf of QBE, Ronak Shah CEO of QBE Singapore said QBE was committed to using digital innovation to improve client experience and reduce environmental impact.
“In an ever-changing business landscape, businesses have to continuously innovate and evolve to meet the needs of their customers and their operating environments. At QBE Singapore, we have asked ourselves what will our staff, partners and customers need the most in their insurance journey and we have devised these two digital initiatives which are in line with our drive towards digital transformation,” said Ronak Shah, Chief Executive Officer for QBE Singapore.
“Winning this Digital Capability award is a huge honour for us and we would like to thank the AustCham team for this accolade. We will continue to deliver digital solutions to provide convenience and value to our customers and partners while upholding our operating standards.”
