In Vialto Partners' Mobility Matters survey, findings show that fewer than a quarter (23%) of respondents have reached the “strategic” or “influencer” level—where mobility is fully integrated into business priorities and proactively manages risk. There's a growing consensus among business leaders that mobility must evolve into a strategic lever, rather than remain just an operational function, in order to unlock workforce agility and long-term value. Yet many programs continue to operate at a tactical level—underleveraged and underrecognized.
Key takeaways:
- Execution still outweighs influence: Nearly half (45%) describe their mobility program as “meaningful,” with defined processes, standardized policies, and a strong compliance foundation. However, 32% still operate in “unstructured” or “operational” models, lacking the influence to shape broader business strategy.
- Cost pressures stall progress: 36% cite cost management as a major challenge, reflecting increasing economic pressures and the need to “do more with less,” all while delivering an enhanced mobility experience.
- Data gaps block strategic impact: Despite growing strategic intent, 43% of mobility teams don’t track key success metrics like employee satisfaction or alignment with business goals. Furthermore, 76% don’t track employee outcomes post-assignment—making it difficult to demonstrate mobility’s contribution to talent development or retention.
