Tell us about your business

DTG Medical is a subsidiary of Device Technologies, an Australia and New Zealand founded Medical Technologies company, with over 900 employees and a quickly expanding footprint in Southeast Asia with the opening of 5 new offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines since December 2019. We source and supply cutting edge medical technologies from around the world to bring to the ANZ & ASEAN markets.

What’s your role all about?

My role is Regional Manager in Southeast Asia with responsibility for our exciting growth plans across the region. We have built our ASEAN team to 50 employees since 2019 and this will continue to grow as we expand into other medical specialties.

What’s the hot topic in your sector right now?

Being a healthcare company, COVID is still very much at the forefront of most conversations. It has not only had a major, sometimes devastating, impact of those patients who have contracted the virus, but this also has a knock-on effect for patients who have not been treated in hospitals for other conditions because of stretched resources. The industry is poised to support the treatment of these patients once the hospitals can resume all activities, including delayed elective surgeries. The full impact of the pandemic is not limited to those treating and suffering from the virus but to those patients whose diseases may have progressed due to delays in treatment. We will be realising the full cost of the pandemic for some time to come.

Why are you a member of AustCham in Singapore?

I am a member of AustCham because I proudly work for an Australian company that is rapidly expanding into Southeast Asia, so AustCham offers an opportunity to meet and engage with individuals and companies with similar aspirations across a wide range of industries. It is hugely beneficial as we embark on these exciting growth plans to learn from others who have walked this path before us. It is a warm and supportive networking environment to share experiences and navigate challenges in personal and business respects when faced with new frontiers!

Where are your favourite places to go to relax in Singapore?

I am a keen equestrian so top of the list is Bukit Timah Saddle Club! The location is beautiful and the horses and team there are excellent.

For family activities we enjoy taking our two young boys to Sentosa to burn off some of their infinite energy. And when we get a chance my husband and I love to explore the small bars and restaurants across the city… can never go too far wrong with food options in Singapore!

What are your predictions for the next 12 months?

I think with Singapore’s rapid increase in vaccination rollout we may have a bright 12 months ahead of us. I hope the border restrictions will lighten at home and across Asia as more are vaccinated and we can once again travel around this wonderful region. For MedTech we expect we will be busy supporting the increase in elective surgery demands once the COVID restrictions and strain on resources begin to ease off in hospitals. We’re excited to execute on some of our training, education and new product launch plans for the region in 2022!
